Gallup and the Institute for Financial Wellbeing define five pillars of wellbeing: Career, Social, Financial, Physical, and Community. But what if they’ve missed the most important one?
The missing Sixth Pillar—Spiritual Wellbeing—is the key to lasting fulfilment. Without it, financial wellbeing can become a cycle of chasing status, success, and fleeting happiness. With it, we shift from hedonic wellbeing (momentary pleasure) to eudaimonic wellbeing (deep, meaningful fulfilment).
Spiritual wellbeing isn’t just about religion—it’s about purpose, values, and connection beyond the self. It’s what makes wealth truly worth something. Without it, even the most financially successful people can feel empty.
